I thought this was an interesting story because we recently talked about black theatre and how it really helped to shed light on issues such as racism. In this article, the author writes about the first African-American women who was supposed to go on a mission for NASA but was pulled and how her brother claims racism is the reason. It goes to show that we are still fighting issues such as racism and separation between colors today. However NASA responded to The Washington Post saying, "Diversity and inclusion are integral to mission success at NASA and we have a diverse astronaut corps reflective of that approach." It is good to hear they are open to diversity and begs the question of why Dr. Epps was really released from the mission. It seems "racism" is an easy fault to pin on someone without even knowing the facts.
